Awesome Acetate by CindyC

Backgrounds on Acetate
Stamped Images on Acetate
Acetate Peeled Techique by CindyC

Getting Started

The one thing that nearly all of these have in common is that they not only use acetate, but they also use Future Floor Finish or Diamond Glaze or similar. I used 3M transparency film made for thermal transfer printers.

Most of the backgrounds are a take off on Mary Jo Mcgraw's "Caught In Crystal" technique. Note that as Brenda Banks shared in a class some time ago, dries clear glue may also be used.

I will quickly explain each background, ask for questions then move on to the next. You will want to be here when we get to the stamped samples for my very cool find!

You may stamp your images before or after you do your backgrounds.

General tip, use a light hand when spreading the Future Floor Finish.

Instructions

Hi everyone. are you ready to learn from my mistakes? We have lots to cover so let's get right to it.

Backgrounds on Acetate

Future Floor Finish poured in a small puddle then smeared on acetate with drops of adirondack's ginger and stream put on, then brushed with a paint brush. Gently pat crumpled tissue on back and let dry.

1
Purple blue: Diamond Glaze, half dollar sized, smeared on acetate then added drops of purple and dark blue Memories inks and crumpled tissue.

2
Memories: poured on Future Floor Finish, spread on acetate, added dots of mango and cherry Memories. Folded acetate and ran hand over to spread. Unfold, add tissue and pat down.

3
Better: spread Future Floor Finish; add drops of purple, blue and pink Memories. Gently smear. Add Evo's violet dazzler glitter and gold powdered pigment sparingly. Add crumpled tissue.

4
Memories mango and pink on pre-spread Future Floor Finish. Add violet dazzler (Evo) and gold powdered pearls, then tissue.

5
Drops of pearl ex mixed with Future Floor Finish in small deli condiment containers. Drop on Future Floor Finish'd acetate then blend.

6
Colorbox chalks rubbed right on from the pad add Future Floor Finish then smear.

Stamped Images on Acetate

I decided it would be easiest to lay my prestamped images over the backgrounds before attaching. This made it easy to choose what I liked.
Same image on white paper(29), pink(20), then blue(32) to show behind the acetate background. This stamped image was embossed.

ACE-PEEL's

Now about that cool find (at least to me)!

Remove the acetate after completely dry from the paper background and you will have a surface that is shiny and slick. You can then reuse the acetate! It is the coolest backgrounds!

You cannot see it on the monitor but this is as smooth as the best glossy. I did the same technique with several of the pieces. You can use paper or tissue. This works with inks but not with paints.

You have to see this to really know what a knock out it is. Especially when you have those neat crumpled texture designs from the paper!
