April Bonus 2000
Ying Yang Box with Barn Swallow
Designed By Judi Kauffman
The intersection where the flaps meet in the center of the Ying Yang Box (FIT
IT template CD) reminded me of a branch where a bird might perch. Since the
Birds of Spring stamps include birds of many kinds, you'll be able to vary
the size and shape of your Ying Yang Box and still find one that's just
right. I chose to make my box 3" x 3", perfect for the barn swallow.
With apologies to the ornithologists who would prefer realistic colors, I
used markers that went with the paper I chose for the box rather than being
accurate.
MATERIALS
For April Projects
Red Castle FIT IT Template CD
Red Castle #42460 Birds of Spring
White card stock
Black pigment ink and embossing powder
Watercolor markers
Handmade paper with fabric bits and threads (All Night Media Stamp Art papers
#88EAR/Earth)
Krylon Leafing Pen/Copper
Xyron with adhesive cartridge or double faced adhesive sheet
STEPS
- Print Ying Yang box template on lightweight paper. Put adhesive on the back
of the template and affix it to the BACK of the handmade paper (NOTE: this
sheet has a distinct right and wrong side, it is too soft to use for a box
without the template as a second layer).
-
Cut out box, score and fold on guidelines.
-
Use Krylon Leafing Pen/Copper to edge flaps of box.
-
Glue box together.
-
Stamp, emboss and color the bird of your choice. Cut close to outlines.
Glue in place or raise from surface with a two sided adhesive foam dot.
OPTIONS
Print template onto
decorative paper instead of computer paper and the "lining" of your box will
be in a contrasting print or color.
